What is BABELFISH ($FISH)?

BabelFish is a decentralized protocol and DAO that functions as a multi-chain stablecoin aggregator and distributor. Its primary objective is to solve the problem of fragmented liquidity in the crypto market. Currently, stablecoin liquidity is often split across many different issuers and blockchains, making it difficult for users to move funds efficiently. BabelFish addresses this by acting as a translation device or gateway for stablecoins. The protocol works by accepting various USD-pegged stablecoins from multiple networks, such as Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain, and aggregating them into a single liquid pool. In exchange for these deposits, the protocol issues a meta-stablecoin called XUSD. This token is backed 1:1 by the underlying basket of aggregated stablecoins. Users can use XUSD across different DeFi platforms or bridge it to other chains, where it can be redeemed back for any of the accepted stablecoins at a par value. BabelFish is built on the Rootstock network, which is a smart contract layer for Bitcoin. It was launched in close partnership with the Sovryn ecosystem, a decentralized finance platform on Bitcoin. One of the project's broader goals is to support what it calls hyper-bitcoinization by bringing more stablecoin utility and decentralized finance capabilities to the Bitcoin network. The FISH token is the native governance token of the protocol. It is used to give the community control over the direction of the project through a decentralized autonomous organization, or DAO. FISH holders can participate in governance by staking their tokens to propose and vote on key protocol parameters. This includes deciding which new stablecoins the protocol should accept as collateral, managing risk parameters, and determining how to allocate the interest earned from lending the protocol's collateral. Beyond aggregation, the protocol aims to generate yield by lending a portion of its collateral through established DeFi protocols. A unique aspect of its security model is that it uses a portion of this generated yield to fund a Bitcoin-based insurance pool, which acts as a safeguard for the protocol's users against potential market distortions or stablecoin failures. In summary, BabelFish serves as a bridge for stablecoin liquidity, aiming to create a more unified and efficient DeFi experience by allowing different stablecoins to communicate and flow freely between various blockchain ecosystems. BABELFISH ($FISH) FAQ

Babelfish is a decentralized protocol operating as a stablecoin aggregator on the Rootstock (RSK) network. Its primary goal is to solve liquidity fragmentation by consolidating various USD-pegged stablecoins—such as USDT and USDC—into a single meta-stablecoin called XUSD. This allows users to bring stablecoins from multiple chains and convert them into a unified asset that is easily usable within the Bitcoin-layered DeFi environment.
XUSD is a meta-stablecoin backed 1:1 by a diversified basket of stablecoins deposited into the Babelfish protocol. To manage the risk of an underlying asset losing its peg, the protocol utilizes 'Balancing Curves' and emergency pause mechanisms. Furthermore, Babelfish maintains a Bitcoin-backed insurance fund designed to absorb market shocks, ensuring the stability and security of XUSD for its holders.
$FISH is the governance and utility token of the Babelfish DAO. Holders can use $FISH to vote on protocol upgrades, treasury management, and the selection of accepted stablecoins. By staking $FISH in the Stability Pool, users receive veFISH (vote-escrowed FISH), which grants voting power and a share of protocol revenue generated from liquidations and emissions. There are also discussions regarding the use of $FISH for discounted cross-chain transaction fees.
The total supply of $FISH is capped at 420,000,000 tokens. The project emphasizes decentralized growth and community-led governance rather than centralized control. The distribution is structured to incentivize long-term participation through staking rewards and protocol incentives, ensuring that the direction of the stablecoin aggregator remains aligned with the interests of its active community members.
Babelfish is built on Rootstock (RSK) to support the mission of bringing decentralized finance utility to the Bitcoin ecosystem. As a secure sidechain of Bitcoin, RSK allows the project to leverage Bitcoin's security while providing the smart contract functionality necessary for a complex stablecoin aggregator. This positioning helps facilitate the movement of liquidity between Bitcoin and other major blockchain networks.
Users can acquire $FISH on LBank and other supported decentralized trading platforms. Because the protocol operates on the RSK network, rBTC (Smart Bitcoin) is required to pay for gas fees. Users can obtain rBTC by using supported bridges to convert BTC or other assets. While currently focused on the Bitcoin-layered ecosystem, Babelfish is exploring multichain expansions to improve accessibility across different blockchain layers.
